Henry's Fork

Fishing reports focusing on the Henrys Fork in the Ashton/St. Anthony area.

Little slow

Went swimming yesterday at the Vernon put in it was really refreshing I do not recommend it, so watch your footing. Got to Vernon around 10 am and as expected it was slow. I hooked through out the day 7 fish a few in the 20 inch range 1 on a wooly bugger and the rest on midge pupa as would be expected this time of year. I used both red and black midge either one worked I tried a pheasant tail at first but lost my rig so I just put a bugger with 2 midge on.

Fishing is Good

Fishing is good in the Warm River and the The HF.  Slow strip and swing #6 black wooly buggers, rubber legs, and eggs if you're into that.  Fish are hungry from 11:00a.m. until 3p.m.  Get out and fish!

Salmon Flies are here! Swing in the shop and we'll get you set up with everything you need to get into some fish. The fish are still keying in on the stonefly nymphs but should start looking up to the surface soon. Your best bet is to throw your favorite salmon fly pattern dropping a rubber legs off the bottom.

Henry's Fork

The Box canyone is running high around 2,000 CFS but the flows have been stable for a few days and you should be able to pick up some fish. The river from the confluence with warm river is high and off color. Throw streamers at the slower banks where fish will be holding. You can also nymph with a rubber legs. Fish are really starting to key in on the stonefly nymphs as they are starting to crawl.

Henry's Fork

As the flows continue to drop and stabilize fishing should continue to get better. Look for caddis to be coming off. If nothing is happening on top, nymphs and streamers will work as well. Rubber legs, standard nymph patterns, and sculpin patterns have all been producing fish.

Big Fish

Fishing will continue top become a tougher with the rising flows due to all the rain and runoff. The lower river is running very high right now because of all the water coming out of the teton river and the falls river. Look for fish rising in slower pools where the runoff will not affect them as much. Look for Caddis, BWO's and Midges to be on the water. If the water will stabalize for a couple of days the fish should be all over the caddis hatches that have been happening.

Henrys Fork

Fishing has been good the last few days.  With the blue wing olives, and midges hatching you may see so many rising fish that you might think it's june except that parts of your body go numb.  If you get tired of trying to find your fly on the water switch over to streamers they have been working equally as well.  This time of year the warmest parts of the day are going to be the peak times.  This is from about 12 to 5 with the streamer fishing towards the latter half.
